Operations Management Class Notes

Four dimensions of operations: Quality, Responsiveness, Variety and Cost
Processes (Three basic measures): Flow unit, flow time, flow rate and inventory

Process Management: You want to run the same process over and over again. (e.g. subway restaurant process of making a sandwich)

Capacity = 1 / processing time = 1 / [seconds/customer] = customer / seconds
Process capacity = capacity of bottleneck
Flow rate =  minimum of (demand rate, process capacity)
Utilization = flow rate / capacity
